Allow me to introduce myself...
Motherhood Changed Me.
There is great beauty and at the same time, exhaustion that comes from being a Mother. Mothers work hard from the time of conception, and are always self-giving. Adjusting to all the changes that come within the first weeks after birth are never ceasing. The way in which every family adjusts is unique. I am present with you and serve you and your family as you learn to adjust and welcome this beautiful new baby into your home.
Present Doula was birthed out of an understanding of the power of the presence of supportive, non-judgmental individuals during both the joyous and sorrowful times that life brings. At varying times in our lives, we need friends, family, and professionals to "lift our arms" or simply be present with us as we experience the riches and trials that life brings. I have had my fair share of both, and because of my experiences, can empathize with both the ups and downs of parenthood.
I received birth doula training from DONA International and birth & postpartum training from Doula Alliance. I completed my doula certification with Doula Alliance. Due to my interest in perinatal mental health, I went on to obtain a Certificate in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International. Additionally, I desire to care for families suffering with the loss of a child in any trimester and have done further studies with Stillbirthday. All of these trainings have equipped me to educate mothers and families on the options in childbirth in any trimester, the postpartum season, and perinatal mental health. I know and practice within my scope of practice and enjoy providing the best of local resources for referrals when necessary.
I am married to a wonderful, supportive husband! I have three children, all of whom were natural childbirths. My first child was delivered via water birth in a Birth Center, in which I had two midwives, a nurse, and my husband present. I felt like I had a doula there because they were present with me the entire time and beyond supportive. That experience carried me through my next two natural hospital births.
Aside from my varying birth experiences, my life experience has been such that I really do understand and celebrate the differences in what people do, think, and believe. We are not all the same and we are not going to make the same decisions on every topic. We have all been created uniquely and have had various life experiences that contribute to our different convictions and limitations. I am a firm believer that you need to do what is best for you and your family. I will not make decisions for you, but will help educate you in options and walk beside you in what you choose.
